The Foundry honored our veterans Thursday night, November 4th, with it's first juried exhibit "Heroes". The opening reception, which started at 5pm, benefited the Wounded Heroes Fund with a percentage of artwork sales and entry fees. Opening a week before Veteran's Day, the "Heroes" exhibit reminds the community of the importance of honoring our veterans.
The Wounded Heroes Fund is a local charity that acts as a service organization for those veterans affected by the war on terror providing them with the support and appreciation they need in their return to civilian life. The Foundry was delighted to work with the Wounded Heroes Fund on the exhibit and looks forward to working with them again in the future. The opportunity to help local wounded veterans was a wonderful chance for artists to show off their talents while helping their community.
All visitors voted for their favorite piece of art and the best of show award went to local artist and Foundry member Alan Willis for his entry "Lifeline".
The "Heroes" exhibit will be on display until December 23, 2010. Check out KGET Channel 17 News story on the event here and some photos below from Thursday night's event.
